My name is Brianne Erichsen and I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW #19415), having completed 1600 hours of supervised post-graduate clinical hours and the ASWB Clinical Social Work licensing exam. Clinical Social Workers are regulated under the Health Professions Act in Alberta, are authorized to use diagnostic tools including the DSM-V, and provide treatment services that are income tax-deductible and can be claimed under most extended health insurance policies.

I have been offering counselling services since 2016 working primarily with adults within a University setting struggling with overcoming anxiety (social/generalized), depression, trauma, attachment and life transitions, self-esteem/personal identity, stress management, and relationships.

 

As a counsellor, I understand that coming into counselling can sometimes be an intimidating process. It is my goal to create a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental environment for you to explore and process whatever feels as though it may be getting in the way of you progressing in the way you want to. I take a client-centred approach, meaning I allow for you to take an active role in the counselling process- believing that ultimately you know yourself best. I will often use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused techniques, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, somatic/body-centred approaches and resume a strength-based approach to help clients meet their presenting concerns.

In working with me you will find I am an intuitive, emotion focused therapist with a calm and nurturing approach to building the therapeutic space and relationship. I believe counselling sessions should be a safe and compassionate space to be curious about thoughts, emotions, and insights without judgement or bias.

Areas I am particularly passionate about are anxiety and stress, body positivity, disordered eating, emotions, self compassion, mindfulness, and personal identity. Empowering you to grow in confidence and self-awareness while building skills to assist along life's journey is my only agenda.

Clients who may find me to be a good fit for them might be wanting to explore or work on authenticity, empowerment, goal setting, trauma processing, self-worth, spiritualism, and/or relationships. I offer a free half hour intake appointment to see if we are a good match for one another. Your comfort and safety will always be my top priority.
